Figural Brass Bird Claw & Feather Letter Opener

Stunning vintage cast-brass letter opener sculpted in a whimsical naturalistic form — a lifelike bird's talon grasping at one end, tapering through a finely scaled leg into a slender feather-shaped blade. The detailing is beautifully done, from the curved nails of the claw to the engraved barbs running the length of the quill.

Warm aged patina and soft gilt-gold highlights give this piece the romance of an antique writing desk. In the Victorian and Art Nouveau tradition of figural desk accessories, it is as much a small sculpture as it is a tool.

Perfect as a letter opener or page turner, styled among books and curiosities, or given as a distinctive gift for the collector, writer, or lover of vintage desk decor.
