Rare Charles X Opaline Tazza with Gilt Bronze Birds
An exceptional French Bulle de Savon opaline glass tazza dating to the Charles X period, circa 1820, featuring a luminous pedestal bowl encircled by a finely cast gilt bronze rim. Perched gracefully on either side are a pair of exquisitely detailed Pliny birds, creating the illusion that they have just landed along the edge of the vessel.
The softly iridescent opaline glass glows beautifully in the light, while the richly textured bronze mounts add a refined neoclassical elegance. Whether styled as a centerpiece, compote, birdbath, or simply displayed as a work of art, this museum-quality piece is a remarkable example of early 19th-century French decorative arts.
Measures approximately 4” tall (5” tall including birds), 6.25” in diameter (10” wide including birds).
