Stunning antique Wedgwood black jasperware footed vase in the timeless neoclassical taste. The matte black ground is dressed in crisp white relief, with a graceful figure of Apollo and his lyre framed by trailing laurel and foliate festoons, sculptural lion-head mask handles at the shoulders, a water-leaf collar around the flared rim, and acanthus leaves rising from the pedestal foot.

The underside is impressed "WEDGWOOD," a hallmark of the storied English pottery, and the contrast of bright white sprigging against the deep black body gives this piece real presence.
