Beautiful antique Victorian white opaline glass jewelry casket, hand-painted with delicate sprays of pansies, daisies, and forget-me-nots and cradled in an ornate silvered metal frame. A romantic vanity treasure from the Aesthetic Movement era, circa 1870s-1890s.

The luminous milk-white opaline glass box is set into an elaborate frame alive with cast butterflies and blossoming branches, rising on four splayed feet with butterfly-form corner mounts. The hinged lid opens on a graceful chain stay to reveal a smooth beveled interior, perfect for keeping rings, earrings, and other small keepsakes close at hand.

A truly eye-catching statement piece for a dressing table or curio shelf, equally lovely displayed open or closed. The gentle patina of the silvered metal and softly worn painted florals only deepen its old-world charm.
