Death Cabinet

Rare antique death cabinet, complete with its original crucifix, communion plates, candle holders, holy cards, instruction sheet, and candles. This fascinating religious artifact was kept in the home and used to prepare for a priest's visit when a family member was nearing the end of life.

What makes this example especially compelling is the evidence of actual use. The purple silk-lined interior shows dark soot marks from candles once burned during bedside ceremonies, and the original candles remain with blackened wicks from being lit. These details offer a poignant glimpse into the sacred rituals and family traditions.
